Third Place Game
Oak Lawn 50; Newton 34
Oak Lawn outscored Newton 27-14 during the middle two quarters, en route to a 50-34 win in the third place game.
The Spartans held a slim 8-5 lead after the first eight minutes and then expanded it to 20-10 at halftime and 35-19 after three periods.
The Eagles had a difficult time scoring, hitting just 20 percent of their shots, going 11-for-55 in the game, including 2-of-10 from three-point range.
Davion Lawrence led Oak Lawn with 15 points. Newton had two players in double figures – Mason Schafer with 12 points and Evan Schafer with 10.
Consolation Championship
Champaign Centennial 68; Dixon 60
The Centennial Chargers went on a 24-13 scoring spree in the fourth quarter to rally for a 68-60 win over Dixon in the consolation championship – or ninth place.
The Dukes broke out to an 18-10 lead and were still on top, 47-44, going into the final eight minutes.
Trae Warren led the Chargers with 18 points, while Jalen Coleman scored 13 and David Hubbard added 10.
Jacob Gaither and Riley Abell combined to score 55 points for Dixon, with Gaither netting 30 and Abell adding 25.
11th Place Game
Charleston 53; Mattoon 47
William Applegate and Caleb Oakley both scored 14 points, helping the Charleston Trojans post a 53-47 victory over the Mattoon Green Wave.
The Trojans led 10-4 after the first period, 18-16 at halftime and 35-27 after three quarters. The Green Wave outscored Charleston 20-18 in the final eight minutes, but it wasn’t enough.
Cooper Bergstro had 13 points for Mattoon, while Christian Larson scored 12 and Blaine Powers added 11.
13th Place Game
Pleasant Plains 52; Belvidere 44
Pleasant Plains built an early lead and were never seriously challenged, finishing with the eight-point decision, 52-44.
The Cardinals led 16-8 after the opening eight minutes, built that to 20-9 at halftime and were up 39-19 heading into the fourth period.
Nick Sabo led Pleasant Plains with 14 points, while Zach Powell scored 11 and Evan Houser added 10. Belvidere’s Ryan Beaudet led all scorers with 17 points.
15th Place Game
Lutheran North 70; Horizon Science Academy 45
Lutheran North outscored Horizon 43-22 in the middle two quarters, en route to a 70-45 decision.
The Crusaders held a slim 15-13 edge after the first period, but extended their advantage to 58-35 over the next 16 minutes.
Lutheran North had four players in double figures – David Moore with 15, and Jameer Cretter, Berry Benson and Davell Long each with 13. Kamren Cook had 13 points for Horizon.
