The National Trail Conference has released its all-conference teams for the 2019 fall season.
Altamont’s Rachel Jackman was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. St. Anthony had two players selected – Elizabeth Kabbes on the first team and Ada Rozene as honorable mention.
Here are the total selections:
First Team: Elizabeth Kabbes – St. Anthony; Rachel Jackman, Ellie McManaway and Taylor Metter – Altamont; Mackinzee Reynolds – Windsor/Stew-Stras; Hallie Smith – South Central; Lauren Wojcik – Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City; and Vayda Smith – St. Elmo/Brownstown
Second Team: Brooke Runge – Altamont; Claire Moomaw and Anna Schlechte – Windsor/Stew-Stras; Chloe Lewis – North Clay; Natalie Oberlink – St. Elmo/Brownstown; Emily Bloemer – Dieterich; and Zaryah Smith – Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City
Honorable Mention: Ada Rozene – St. Anthony; Kassidy Pemberton – Altamont; Olivia Titus – Neoga; Katelyn Maxey – St. Elmo/Brownstown; and Hannah Hayes – Windsor-Stew-Stras
The St. Anthony volleyball season came to a close Tuesday night.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped a three-game decision to Hutsonville in an opening-round match of the Casey-Westfield Class 1A Regional.
All three games were close. Hutsonville won the opener 25-21, but St. Anthony came back to take the second game 26-24. In the deciding third game, Hutsonville squeaked out a 27-25 win to survive and advance.
For the Lady Bulldogs, Elizabeth Kabbes had 1 kill, 5 points; Stella Passalacqua 4 kills, 2 blocks; Kate Hartke 3 aces, 6 points; Taylor Ritz 4 kills, 7 points; Lucy Fearday 9 kills, 2 aces, 1 block, 7 points; Kyra Swearingen 1 ace, 30 assists, 3 points; Ada Rozene 13 kills, 1 block, 6 points; and Rileigh Haarmann 3 kills, 2 blocks.
The St. Anthony volleyball team hit the road Monday night and dropped a contest in Olney.
The Lady Tigers won in two games by scores of 25-19, 25-16.
For St. Anthony, Claire Scheidemantel had 1 kill, 1 ace, 1 block, 2 points; Stella Passalacqua 2 kills, 1 block; Kate Hartke 1 point; Taylor Ritz 1 ace, 6 points; Lucy Fearday 7 kills, 1 ace, 1 block, 2 points; Kyra Swearingen 1 ace, 15 assists, 5 points; and Ada Rozene 9 kills and 1 point.
Olney and St. Anthony split the junior varsity and freshman contests.
The Lady Bulldogs freshmen won 25-11, 25-21, but the Lady Tigers took the JV match by scores of 25-11, 25-13.
St. Anthony will play Thursday at North Clay.
The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs closed out their regular volleyball season schedule with a victory Thursday night.
St. Anthony posted a three-set win at North Clay. The scores were 25-20, 19-25, 25-13.
For the Lady Bulldogs, Elizabeth Kabbes had 1 kill, 2 aces, 9 points; Claire Scheidemantel 1 block; Stella Passalacqua 1 block; Kate Hartke 4 aces, 13 points; Taylor Ritz 6 kills, 2 points; Lucy Fearday 13 kills, 2 aces, 1 block, 5 points; Kyra Swearingen 2 aces, 26 assists, 5 points; and Ada Rozene 6 kills, 1 ace, 3 points.
The St. Anthony junior varsity team also won in three sets. The scores were 25-21, 17-25, 15-6.
The Lady Bulldogs will now play in the Casey-Westfield Regional. They will face Hutsonville at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The winner of that match will advance to the semifinals and play No. 2 seed Cumberland on Wednesday.
Altamont dominated four straight opponents, didn’t lose a single game and rolled to the championship of the National Trail Conference Volleyball Tournament.
The Lady Indians opened play Thursday with a 25-18, 25-17 win over St. Anthony and a 25-5, 25-11 decision over North Clay.
In the Gold Pool on Saturday, Altamont beat St. Elmo/Brownstown 25-20, 25-7; and then beat Windsor/Strew-Stras in the championship match, 25-11, 25-14.
South Central was the winner in the Silver Pool. They defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25-18, 25-21; and then beat St. Anthony 25-16, 25-14.
In the Bronze Pool, Dieterich prevailed by beating Neoga 22-25, 25-15, 25-21; and the North Clay 25-13, 17-25, 25-15.
