The Sports Report

Hard to imagine a team scoring two runs in two games and still be playing in the postseason.

Although improbable, Marshall has proven it’s not impossible.

The Lady Lions have now posted back-to-back 1-0 victories – the first against Paris in the semifinals; the next against Teutopolis in Friday afternoon’s championship game of the Class 2A Teutopolis Regional.

It took extra innings before either team was able to put something other than a zero on the scoreboard. In the regional final, it came in the bottom of the eighth inning.

McKenzie Davis, Marshall’s clean-up hitter, lined a base hit into left field, allowing Lynn Welborn to race home with the walk-in victory and the regional title.
