The Effingham Lady Hearts jumped out to a quick lead and then rolled to a 52-22 victory at home Tuesday night over Charleston.
It was Senior Night at EHS. Rylea Hodge and Olivia Moser, the two seniors on the squad, were recognized.
Averie Wolfe knocked down a three-pointer and scored seven points in the opening period, helping the Lady Hearts build a 16-7 lead. It was a 24-16 halftime advantage.
Effingham broke the game open in the third quarter. Bella Austin connected on a pair of shots from behind the arc and Sidney Donaldson also scored six points, as the Lady Hearts went on a 17-3 run to expand the gap to 41-19 heading in to the final eight minutes.
EHS had three players in double figures. Alyssa Martin and Wolfe both scored 11 points and Austin added 10.
The Lady Hearts improved to 24-4 overall and 6-3 in the Apollo. They will be back in action next Wednesday, Feb. 7, playing at home against Olney.
