Kailey Young connected on a three-pointer and scored six points in the overtime period Wednesday night, helping the Paris Lady Tigers post a 56-48 victory over the Effingham Lady Hearts.

Effingham was playing with one starter out and at least two others battling the flu bug.

The game was close throughout.

The Lady Hearts led 13-11 after the opening eight minutes and 25-24 at halftime. Heading into the fourth period, EHS still owned a slim lead, 38-36, but Paris managed to tie the game, 44-44, to send the game into overtime.

In the extra period, Young tallied her six points, plus Edwards also connected on a three and added two free throws, helping the Lady Tigers outscore Effingham 12-4 and secure the win.

Young scored a game-high 15 points for Paris, who improved to 13-4.

Alyssa Martin scored 13 points, Averie Wolfe had 10 and Tessa Raddatz added nine for EHS.

The Lady Hearts are now 15-5 overall. They will return to action Monday at the Vandalia Tournament.
