North Central features a prolific offense that has averages 560 yards and 52 points a game. The Cardinals scored 50 or more points in seven of their games, including staggering totals of 69, 77 and even 82. Their lowest point total of the season came in a 35-21 loss to Wheaton. It was the only time they scored less than 30 points in a game.
In the playoffs, North Central has defeated Wabash 51-15; Mount Union 59-52 and Delaware Valley 31-14. The Cardinals then beat Muhlenberg last weekend, 45-14, to punch their ticket for the championship game. Hill had a touchdown run of 28 yards in the win over Muhlenberg.
For the season, Hill, a sophomore running back, has rushed for 277 yards, added 38 yards in pass receptions and scored four touchdowns. He also returned seven kickoffs. He is also missed some games due to an injury.
Vasquez, a senior defensive back, has 8 solo tackles and 2 assists this year, while Page, a junior linebacker, recorded 2 solos and 2 assists. Hasty is a sophomore linebacker.
North Central competes in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), while UW-Whitewater is a member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
The Warhawks, along with Mount Union, have dominated Division III. UW-Whitewater has won the national title six times in the last 13 years – 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014. Since 1993, Mount Union has been in the championship contest 21 different years, winning the title 13 times and finishing runner-up eight more.
North Central sports teams have accumulated 38 national championships through the years, but none in football. So Head Coach Jeff Thorne and the Cardinals will be looking to make school history Friday night.
