Althoff then delivered a two-run single and Boone capped the seven-run frame with an RBI single to put EHS on top, 7-3.

It was a 7-4 score when the Lady Hearts came to bat in the sixth. They scored one run on another bases-loaded walk, one on a sacrifice fly and added three more on an RBI double by Donaldson and a two-run single by Kirk.

The Lady Bulldogs made it a game again in the bottom of the sixth. Laney Coffin, Julia Schultz and Lily Gannaway each singled to load the bases. Niebrugge drove in a pair with a double and two more runs came across on a fly ball by Addi Hatton to close the gap to 12-8.

But Effingham added on again in the seventh. Bierman singled and Donaldson drove a pitch over the centerfield fence for a two-run homer, giving her four RBI in the game.

Althoff got the win. She went all seven innings, allowing 13 hits and eight runs. She walked one and struck out two. Sydney Kibler took the loss. She pitched the first 2.1 innings, giving up seven runs on only two hits. Addie Wernsing pitched the final 4.2 innings.

The Lady Bulldogs had their 13-game winning streak snapped and dipped to 25-3 on the season. They will now open postseason play, hosting their own regional. They are the No. 1 seed and will play at 4 p.m. Tuesday. St. Anthony will face either Shelbyville or Sullivan.

The Lady Hearts improved to 20-9 on the season. They will play on Monday at Olney.
