Eli Link walked, Eli Levitt delivered a run-scoring double, followed by another walk to Seth Hotze.

After the second out was recorded, Mendella drove home a pair with a base hit, Colton               Fearday lined a two-run double, Moore got his second hit and third RBI of the inning and Niebrugge followed with a two-run blast over the leftfield fence, also giving him two hits and three RBI in the frame.

But the Bulldogs still weren’t done. Hoene doubled and Link singled him home with the 13th run. Levitt then collected the 12th hit of the inning before the 18th batter was retired.

“You don’t see that kind of an inning very often,” Kreke noted. “We just started making real solid contact and hitting the ball hard. That was quite an inning.”

After that, Kreke pulled a majority of his starters and let reserves play the rest of the way.

“I got to play a lot of kids,” he said. “For some of them, it was their first varsity at-bat.”

St. Anthony ended the game with two runs in the fourth. Colin Westendorf singled and went to third on a base hit by Beau Adams, who advanced to second on the throw to third. Brock Jansen drove in Westendorf with a fly ball and Connor Roepke ended the game with an RBI single to give the Bulldogs the 15-run cushion.

Hotze was the starter. He pitched the first two innings to get the victory and combined with Levitt to throw a no-hitter. The Tigers had four baserunners in the game, drawing three walks and one batter reaching on an error. The two pitchers combined to strike out eight batters.

Kennan Walsh was not in the starting lineup Friday and will miss the rest of the postseason. Toward the end of practice on Wednesday, he dove for a fly ball. In doing so, his hand rolled back under his body and broke in three places.

“It makes you sick to your stomach to think about it,” Kreke said. “He is such a good kid, a great competitor and someone with high character. You hate to see something like that happen. We will miss him.”

The Bulldogs will now play for the regional championship. They will face North Clay at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Hollow Park. North Clay reached the finals with a 10-2 win Friday over Dieterich.

St. Anthony defeated North Clay 11-9 back on April 26.

“From here on out, it’s going to be a dogfight,” Kreke noted. “North Clay has a very good team. We’ll have to come out and match their intensity. You always hope you’ll have an easy game. But from now on, we know that won’t happen. The teams we’ll be facing are very good.”
