The St. Anthony, Effingham and Teutopolis boys golf teams all competed in the Mattoon Invitational over the weekend.

The 38-team event was played Friday and Saturday at Meadowview Golf Course and Mattoon Country Club.

“This is a good tournament for us,” said St. Anthony coach Phil Zaccari. “Being one of the smallest schools here and finishing in the top 10 is a good measuring stick for this team. The courses were set up to challenge the golfers. They were a good test of patience. We grinded pretty well and guys stepped up.”

“Saturday was our best score of the year by 18 shots,” EHS coach Jeff Schafer said. “And of Friday, Aiden Beck shot a 76, which was his career low. So we played pretty well.”
