Bulldogs, Hearts play in triangular

The St. Anthony and Effingham boys golf teams traveled to the Mattoon Country Club Friday to compete in a triangular meet.

The host Green Wave posted a two-stroke victory over the Bulldogs. Mattoon finished with a 163 total, while SAHS was close behind at 165. Effingham was third with a 194 total.

Mattoon’s Blaine Powers was the medalist, shooting a nine-hole total of 39.

For St. Anthony, Thomas Chojnicki led the way with a 40, while Jonathan Willenborg and Lane Ludwig both shot 41 and Charlie Wegman 43 to round out the team scoring. Michael Martelli (49), Aidan Tegeler (50) and Grant Nuxoll (51) also competed.

Ryker Schneider had the best round for EHS, shooting 45. Max Woelfer finished with a 47, Ethan Ritz 50 and Preston Latch 52 to compete the team score. Nick Burgess (53) and Coby Haines (54) also competed.

St Anthony girls top Effingham

The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs faced cross-town rival Effingham Friday afternoon and posted a 7-2 victory in tennis.

St. Anthony won five of the singles matches and two of the doubles matches to post the win,
