The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs secured a fifth place finish by posting a 60-53 victory over Altamont Wednesday on the final day of the Mattoon Holiday Basketball Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs finished with a 3-2 record in tourney play, which included two wins over the Lady Indians.
The game was close throughout. SAHS led 14-11 after the first period, but Altamont came back to knot the score 30-30 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs then forged ahead and took a 44-39 lead into the final eight minutes.
Grace Nelson led Altamont with a game-high 28 points and Peyton Osteen added 13.
The Lady Bulldogs had three players in double figures. Lucy Fearday led the way with 21 points, while Abbi Hatton scored 15 and Riley Guy added 10.
Fearday was named to the all-tournament team, while Guy and Hatton were honorable mention.
St. Anthony is now 10-8 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Monday, Jan. 3, with a home game against Casey-Westfield.
