Lucy Fearday joined the 1,000-point club and the St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs earned a berth in the regional championship game.

Both were accomplished Monday night when St. Anthony posted a 49-30 decision over Dieterich in a semifinal game of the Class 1A Toledo (Cumberland) Regional.

It will set up a third showdown between the Lady Bulldogs and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City for the regional title. The Lady Bobcats pulled out a 51-50 win over SAHS in December, but St. Anthony came back to beat CHBC 60-47 in the National Trail Conference Tournament.

The regional championship is set for 7 p. m. Friday in Toledo.

Fearday notched her 1,000th point at the 5:54 mark of the second period, helping the Lady Bulldogs build a 22-13 halftime lead. In the third quarter, they went on an 18-9 run to expand the margin to 40-22 heading into the final eight minutes.

Fearday finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Riley Guy, who reached the 1,000-point plateau earlier in the season, added 17 points. It was the first time in school history that two players scored their 1,000th point in the same season.

The Lady Bulldogs, who won for the 13th time in their last 14 games, improved to 21-9 on the season. They will be looking for their first regional title since 2019.
