The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs opened play Tuesday in the Mattoon Holiday Tournament and split their two games.
St. Anthony opened with a 64-52 loss to Champaign Central, but bounced back to beat Sullivan, 61-47.
In the opener, the Lady Bulldogs battled Champaign Central throughout. The game was tied 16-16 after the first eight minutes and then Central led 30-28 at halftime and 43-38 after the third period. But Champaign then outscored SAHS 21-14 in the final eight minutes to secure the win.
Lucy Fearday scored 17 points, while Nancy Ruholl and Anna Faber both had 14 for the Lady Bulldogs.
In the final game of opening day, St. Anthony built a 38-12 halftime lead and then cruised to the win.
There were four Lady Bulldogs in double figures. Stacie Vonderheide led the way with 19 points, while Ruholl scored 13, Fearday 11 and Faber added 10.
St. Anthony is now 12-3 on the season. They were scheduled to play Galesburg at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) and then complete tourney play with a game later today and one more on Thursday.
