All-stater Ty Pence pumped in 31 points Saturday, leading the St. Joe-Ogden Spartans to a 61-38 victory at home over St. Anthony.
Pence, a 6’4” senior, who has committed to play at Illinois State, knocked down three shots from behind the arc and scored 16 points in the first period, helping the Spartans build an 18-5 advantage. By halftime, SJO was on top, 28-13.
The Bulldogs were within 12 points, 41-29, heading into the fourth period, but the hosts outscored SAHS 20-9 in the final eight minutes to secure the win and improve to 16-4.
Brock Fearday was the only St. Anthony player to crack double figures, finishing with 12 points. Griffin Sehy and Ryan Schmidt both scored eight.
The Bulldogs dipped to 15-8 on the season. They will now play on Wednesday in a quarterfinal round game of the National Trail Conference Tournament in Altamont. They are the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Brownstown/St. Elmo at approximately 7:45 p.m.
