Whitney Zumbahlen scored 14 of her game-high 22 points in the first half Thursday night, helping the Newton Lady Eagles build an early lead, en route to a 57-34 win at home over St. Anthony.
Zumbahlen netted eight points in the opening quarter and added six more in the second period, as the Lady Eagles built a 33-15 advantage at intermission. Newton expanded the lead to 49-24 heading into the final eight minutes.
Freshman Lucy Fearday led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points. Riley Guy added seven.
St. Anthony dipped to 5-6 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs will return home Saturday for a game against Arthur. Tipoff is scheduled for 10 a.m.
