The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs turned in a strong performance Thursday night and posted a 58-56 victory at home over Shelbyville.

The Lady Bulldogs built a an 11-point halftime lead and then withstood a second half surge by the Lady Rams, sparked by Trinity Wade, to hold on and earn the victory.

Riley Guy pumped in nine points in the first quarter, helping St. Anthony jump out to a 16-9 lead after eight minutes. Lucy Fearday scored 10 points in the second quarter and the Lady Bulldogs expanded their lead to 34-23 at intermission.

Wade, just a sophomore that finished with a game-high 29 points, then scored 13 points in the third period and Shelbyville outscored St. Anthony 20-8 to take a 43-42 lead into the fourth period.

Reece Jones hit a pair of three-pointers and Grace Karolewicz scored five points to help the Lady Bulldogs come back and secure the win.

Jones led three St. Anthony players in double figures with 15 points. Fearday finished with 14 and Guy added 13.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 9-10 on the season. They will play Saturday at Flora.

St. Anthony also won the junior varsity game 43-12. Lucy Fearday scored 11 points, while Rillie Willenborg and Anna Faber both had 10.
