The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes scored eight runs in the final two innings Tuesday to rally and post a 9-4 win at Charleston.
The host Trojans held a 3-1 lead when T-Town came to bat in the top of the sixth. With one out, Caleb Siemer and Caleb Bloemer singled and Luke Koester walked to load the bases. Garrett Gaddis also walked to force in the first run of the inning and Cade Buehnerkemper followed with a two-run single. After an error and a walk load the bases again, Logan Roepke was hit by a pitch to force in another run. The fifth run of the inning scored on a wild pitch.
Charleston scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to close to within 6-4, but the Shoes then scored three times in the top of the seventh. Gaddis had an RBI single and Mitch Althoff capped the scoring with a two-run homer.
Kayden Althoff pitched all seven innings to get the win. He gave up seven hits and four runs, while walking one and striking out eight.
The Shoes improved to 8-5 on the season. They will return to action Thursday at home against Mt. Zion.
