Highland scored single tallies in the first and fifth and the Shoes scored twice in the opening inning. Bushur led off with a double and scored on an RBI single by Buehnerkemper, who took second on the throw home. He later scored a ground out by Mitch Althoff.

Pruemer actually got the win. He relieved with one out in the seventh after Konkel reached his pitch limit. Konkel allowed seven hits and three runs, while walking three and striking out three.

In the semifinal game Saturday morning, Kayden Althoff pitched a three-hit shutout. He allowed only singles in the third, fourth and fifth innings. He walked two and struck out five in his 93-pitch performance. He retired the final nine batters he faced.

The Shoes, who had just one hit against Glenwood-Chatham’s Lane Lorton, made it count. They used two hit batters and a walk to load the bases in the fourth and scored when Bushur delivered an infield single to drive in Pruemer.

Bushur had the pitching gem Friday night against Edwardsville. The senior righthander gave up just four hits and two runs. He walked five and struck out five while throwing 107 pitches.

Bushur was also a big part of the offense, collecting three hits, including a home run, scoring two runs and driving in a pair. In fact, Bushur had a good tournament, going 5-for-9 at the plate. He also scored four runs and collected three RBI.

Bushur started the game with a double and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

The Shoes took the lead for good with a two-run fifth. Siemer had a lead-off single and Konkel was hit by a pitch. Bushur then lined a double to drive in one run and Buehnerkemper, followed with an RBI single.

Bushur belted a solo homer in the seventh to provide a little more cushion.

The Shoes, who have won six of their last seven games, improved to 18-8 on the season. They will be back in action today (Monday) at Altamont and will then travel to Benton for a game Tuesday.
