Despite a cold shooting night, the Teutopolis Lady Shoes still managed to notch their 17th win of the season, a 39-33 decision Thursday at Flora.
The Lady Shoes led at the end of every stop, but the win didn’t come easily. T-Town shot just 25 percent overall, making only 11-of-44 attempts.
The Lady Shoes led 11-9 after the opening eight minutes, 23-17 at halftime and 33-26 after three quarters.
Kaylee Niebrugge and Emily Konkel accounted for almost all of the team’s points. Niebrugge finished with 20 points, while Konkel added 13. Only two other players scored – Courtney Gibson and Molly Ruholl both knocked down three-pointers.
The Lady Shoes, who are ranked No. 2 in the Class 2A poll, improved to 17-2 on the season. They will now open play in the Highland Tournament on Saturday. They will face Waterloo at 11:30 a.m.
