It only took 10 days for the Teutopolis Lady Shoes to avenge an earlier loss.
On January 13, the T-town girls had difficulty containing Bethalto Civic Memorial’s quickness and dropped a 58-41 decision on their home floor.
Thursday night was a different story.
The Lady Shoes turned in a terrific defense effort and came away with a 36-33 victory over the Lady Eagles.
They will now play for fifth place in the Apex Network Physical Therapy Highland Girls Basketball Tournament.
It was close all the way. T-Town led 6-4 after the first eight minutes, but trailed 18-16 at intermission. Teutopolis then led 26-25 after three quarters and played tough down the stretch to secure the victory.
Chloe Probst had a game-high 10 points in this low-scoring affair to lead the Lady Shoes. Malea Helmink nearly had a double-double, finishing with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Shoes improved to 18-5. They will return to Highland on Saturday and face Edwardsville in that fifth place game. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
