Lincoln Way East 59; Mattoon 41

Lincoln Way East built a 35-20 halftime lead, en route to a 59-41 decision over Mattoon. Jhei-R Jones led the Griffins with 11 points, while Ty Slager and Ryan Sucha both scored 10. Cam’Ron Thomas had 13 points for the Green Wave, while Mason Wright scored 10.

Lincoln Way East faces Pleasant Plains at 12:30 p.m. today (Friday), while Mattoon plays St. Anthony at 9:30 a.m. Both games are at Teutopolis High School.

 

Oak Lawn 77; Lawrenceville 51

Sami Osmani pumped in 23 points to help Oak Lawn pull away for a 77-51 victory over Lawrenceville. The Spartans grabbed an early 22-12 lead, led 39-25 at intermission and then expanded the margin to 59-35 heading into the final period. Ryan Kennelly added 18 points for Oak Lawn, while Blayne Winningham and Jordan Jones led the Indians with 18 and 16 points respectively.

Oak Lawn advances to play Chicago Brooks at 2 p.m. today (Friday). Lawrenceville will return to action at 11 a.m. against Teutopolis. Both games are at THS.

 

Champaign Centennial 39; Antioch 27

Champaign Centennial used an 11-3 scoring surge in the fourth quarter to pull away for the 39-27 win over Antioch. The Chargers held a 28-24 advantage after three periods. Temarian Howard led Centennial with 18 points, while Kobe Kriesse paced the Sequoits with 13.

Champaign Centennial will play Central A&M at 12:30 p.m. today (Friday), while Antioch will next face Charleston at 9:30 a.m. Both games will be at Effingham High School.

 

Central A&M 64; Charleston 56

The state’s top-ranked Class 1A team needed a fourth quarter rally to get the win. Central A&M outscored Charleston 26-16 in the final eight minutes to escape with the 64-56 decision. Connor Heaton scored 23 points and Griffin Andricks added 22 for the Raiders. The Trojans had four players in double figures, led by Isaac Miller and Cade Landrus with 14 and 13 points respectively.

A&M will now face Champaign Centennial at 12:30 p.m. today (Friday) and Charleston will play Antioch at 9:30 a.m. Both games are at Effingham High School.

 

Chicago Corliss 60; Dixon 26

Chicago Corliss had no trouble advancing to the second round, posting a 60-26 win over Dixon. The Trojans jumped out to a 14-4 lead and then expanded it to 34-18 at halftime and 56-22 after three quarters. Na’shawn Townsen led Corliss with 19 points. Dentrell McGlown scored six for the Dukes.

Corliss will next face Effingham at 2 p.m. today (Friday), while Dixon will play Sacred Heart Griffin at 11 a.m. Both games will be at Effingham High School.

All 16 teams will play two games today (Friday). The tournament will conclude Saturday, with all games being at Effingham High School. Those games will begin at 10 a.m. The championship contest is slated for 7:30 p.m.
