It took a while to get going, but then the Teutopolis Lady Shoes kicked it into gear.
The THS girls outscored Lincoln 32-14 in the second half Thursday night to pull away and post a 59-36 victory on the road in their season opener and first-ever Apollo Conference contest.
T-Town held a 27-22 advantage at intermission, but then took control in the third period. Kaylee Niebrugge scored six points, and Lexie Niebrugge and Emily Konkel both had five, helping the Lady Shoes outscore Lincoln 21-8 to open a 48-30 margin entering the final quarter.
Kaitlyn Schumacher then netted five points in the final eight minutes as Teutopolis expanded the lead even more, finishing with the 23-point victory.
Kaylee Niebrugge led three players in double figures with 15 points. Lexie Niebrugge knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points and Konkel added 11.
The Lady Shoes will play their home opener Saturday against Mt. Zion in another conference matchup. The varsity game is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m.
