Mahomet-Seymour trailed most of the first three quarters, although the game remained close.
The Lady Bulldogs then went on a 17-5 scoring surge to close out the game and pull out a 51-42 win at home Saturday over Teutopolis.
Sophomores Savannah Orgeron and Nichole Taylor did a bulk of the damage in the final eight minutes. Orgeron scored nine of her game-high 23 points and Taylor added six more, as Mahomet-Seymour erased a 37-34 deficit entering the final period.
Free throw shooting played a big part in that fourth quarter. The Lady Bulldogs converted 9-of-11 foul shots, while the Lady Shoes were 2-for-2.
T-Town led 12-8 after the first period and 23-19 at intermission.
Lexie Niebrugge scored 10 of her team-high 16 points in the first half for the Lady Shoes. Izzy Hardiek finished with seven. Kaitlyn Schumacher led the team with 10 rebounds.
THS dropped to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the Apollo Conference. The Lady Shoes are scheduled to play three games this week – Tuesday at Mattoon; Thursday at Taylorville; and Saturday at home against Meridian.
