Erin Houpt and Tharija Rosa combined to score 14 points in the fourth quarter Tuesday, helping Danville rally for a 60-56 victory at home over Teutopolis.
The Lady Shoes led throughout – 19-11 after the opening eight minutes; 38-27 at intermission; and 48-40 heading into the fourth quarter.
But the Lady Vikings then outscored T-Town 20-8 in the final period to pull out the win. Free throw shooting helped, as the hosts made 10-of-12 free throws in the final eight minutes.
Houpt was a handful the entire game. The senior standout finished with 36 points. She scored 23 of her team’s 27 points in the first half. Rosa had 10 of her 13 points in the second half.
Lexie Niebrugge and Kaylee Niebrugge both scored in double figures for Teutopolis, finishing with 17 and 13 points respectively. Izzy Hardiek led the Lady Shoes with eight rebounds and Kaylee Niebrugge pulled down six. T-Town shot 41 percent from the floor, connecting on 23-of-56 shots. They were 3-for-11 from three-point range and 7-for-8 from the foul line.
The Lady Shoes dipped to 10-4 overall. They will play three more games this week – Thursday at Charleston; Friday at home against Warrensburg-Latham; and Saturday at St. Joe-Ogden. THS is 8-3 in the Apollo Conference.
