Kaskaskia College Cross Country runners excelled at the Region 24 Meet, held October 25 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
Freshman Noah Probst, of Teutopolis, earned All Region 24 honors by placing fifth overall in the 8K distance in a time of 28 minutes and 33 seconds. Vincennes runners took the top four spots and the team title. The Blue Devils placed third, two points behind Danville Area College.
Freshmen Cheyenne Finley, of Centralia, and Elyse Faust, of Mater Dei High School (St. Rose), both earned NJCAA All Region 24 Honors by finishing in the top 5 at the Region 24 meet.
Finley placed 2nd overall with a time of 19 minutes and 34.7 seconds (which broke her previous school record for the 5K distance). Faust finished in 5th place in a time of 21 minutes and 30.3 seconds, placing her on the 1st team All Region with Finley.
As a team, the Blue Angels placed 2nd in a hard fought battle with Vincennes. Vincennes scored 31 points to take the championship, while Kaskaskia was 2nd with 34 points.
Next up for the Kaskaskia College runners will be the NJCAA Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Friday, Nov. 8.
