Teutopolis, Effingham runners compete in Olney Invitational

The Effingham and Teutopolis boys and girls cross country teams participated Saturday in the Olney Invitational.

The Hearts were sixth and Wooden Shoes seventh in the boys race, while the Lady Shoes were fifth and Lady Hearts sixth in the girls event.

In the boys race, Olney captured first place with 39 points, followed by Mattoon with 55 and Monticello 71. Effingham finished with 149 and T-Town 205 in the 14-team event. Altamont finished 9th and Dieterich 10th.

For the Hearts, Andrew Donaldson was 9th in 15:55.95; Garrett Wagoner 26th in 16:53.33; Tucker Moeller 32nd in 17:16.17; Jon Perry 36th in 17:22.36; and Dane Seiler 46th in 18:15.5.

For the Wooden Shoes, Matthew Deters finished 28th in 17:01.53; Cole Probst 35th in 17:21.3; Ben Kitten 45th in 18:07.31; Gavin Tegeler 48th in 18:24.43; and Brody Mette 49th in 18:28.58.

In the girls event, Monticello was dominant, claiming the first four places and ending with 16 points, well ahead of runner-up Olney’s 88. Casey was third at 110. Teutopolis was fifth at 124 and Effingham sixth at 127 in the 13-team field. Dieterich was 9th overall and Altamont also had runners compete, but not enough to earn a team score.

For the Lady Shoes, Jessica Runde finished 13th with a time of 19:30.15; Olivia Copple 22nd at 20:50.7; Kaitlyn Vahling 23rd at 20:52.64; Kaitlyn Schumacher 24th at 21:14.68; and Taylor Bueker 42nd at 22:22.

For the Lady Hearts, Kylie Weaver was 14th in 19:43.59; Marah Kirk 16th in 20:00.63; Nicole Schniederjon 17th in 20:17.31; Kayleigh Koester 37th in 21:55.52; and Daelyn Dunston 43rd in 22:33.64.

 

TENNIS

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes continue to roll on the tennis court.

They racked up another dominating victory Saturday, posting an 8-1 victory over Robinson.
