The Teutopolis Lady Shoes traveled to Cumberland County Monday night and dropped a close two-game match.
The Lady Pirates prevailed 25-23, 25-20.
“It was a really poor night for Teutopolis volleyball,” THS coach Tim Mills said. “The varsity had 27 unforced errors in two sets, which means we basically spotted them 13 points in each. Combine that with a low hitting percentage and you’re not going to beat very many teams.
“Cumberland played with a lot of energy and their offense moved our defenders,” Mills added. “Their setters did a nice job of varying their sets and they mixed in enough tips to keep our defenders guessing.”
For T-Town, Kelsey Deters had 8 digs, 2 points, 33 sets, 16 assists; Holly Heuerman 11 digs, 3 points, 4 sets; Emily Konkel 1 hit, 3 points; Erica Michels 10 digs, 24 hits, 11 kills, 3 points; Lexie Niebrugge 5 digs, 15 hits, 1 kill, 5 points; Ciara Roepke 1 block, 7 digs, 13 hits, 9 kills, 4 points, 4 sets, 1assist; and Kaitlyn Schumacher 1 block, 5 hits.
Cumberland County also won the junior varsity contest by scores of 25-19, 25-18.
The Lady Shoes, who dipped to 17-15, will play again tonight (Tuesday). They will be at home against Robinson.
