The Teutopolis Lady Shoes opened their 2019 volleyball season Tuesday night with a convincing win at Olney.

T-Town won in straight games. The scores were 25-10, 25-15.

“It was a nice start to the season,” said THS coach Tim Mills. “The varsity looked real good. The offense hit .500 with 24 kills in 49 attacks. And the serve receive was solid. Olney only aced us twice.

“We did miss seven serves, which is too many, but we were serving pretty aggressively with a big lead,” Mills added. “Our defense wasn’t really tested. Olney struggled to control the pass, so they didn’t muster much offensively. But we made the plays when we had to.”

For the Lady Shoes, Kelsey Deters had 1 dig, was 4-of-6 serving, 3 points, 24 of 26 sets, 17 assists; Holly Heuerman 3 digs, 1 hit, 3 points; Carly Michels 3 blocks, 14 hits, 8 kills; Erica Michels 1 dig, 16 of 18 hits, 10 kills, 8-of-9 serves, 1 ace, 7 points; Hannah Rodgers 1 serve; Ciara Repking 1 dig, 5 hits, 3 kills, 12 serves, 4 points; Kaitlyn Schumacher 1 block, 5-of-6 hits, 3 kills; and Eve Walker 2 blocks, 3 of 4 hits, 1 kill, 8-of-9 serves, 2 aces, 7 points.

The Lady Shoes will be back in action tonight (Thursday) at Salem.
