Dixon 65; Charleston 56

Dixon’s Darius Harrington is shattering the individual scoring records for the tournament.

He set the single game record with his 36-point performance against Lawrenceville in Friday’s first game and has now set a new four-game tournament record – and he’s only played three.

Harrington scored 35 points – giving him 102 in just three games – to lead the Dukes to a 65-56 decision over Charleston.

The old single game scoring record was shared by Mitchell Stevenson (Altamont in 2017) and Justin Guernsey (Pleasant Plains in 2019). Both scored 35 points in a contest.

The four-game tournament record was 97 points. That was set by Effingham’s Landon Wolfe in 2017.

Dixon will face Lutheran North in the consolation championship at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Charleston will play Effingham at 10 a.m. Saturday. All games are played at Effingham High School.

 

Lawrenceville 57; Belvidere 45

The Lawrenceville Indians outscored Belvidere 33-20 in the middle two quarters, en route to the 57-45 victory.

Jayden Goff and Noah Wilson scored 15 and 14 points respectively for the Indians, while Demetrius Taborn had 14 for the Bucs.

Lawrenceville will now play Newton in the 13th place game. That is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Belvidere will face Oregon at 10 a.m. Saturday. Both of those games will be played in the auxiliary gym at EHS.

 

Centennial 60; Mattoon 54

Champaign Centennial built a 10-point lead after one quarter and maintained its lead throughout, finishing with a 60-54 decision over Mattoon.

Kayden Peat and Isaiah Allen combined to score 33 points – Peat with 17; Allen 16 – to pace the Chargers. Lincoln Hayes tallied 13 points for the Green Wave.

Centennial will play Tolono Unity in the fifth place game at 3 p.m. Saturday. Matton and Chicago Brooks will meet in the seventh place contest at 11:30 a.m.

 

Newton 50; Oregon 45

Kody Bergbower pumped in 21 points, leading the Newton Eagles to a 50-45 overtime win over Oregon.

Newton outscored the Hawks 19-10 in the fourth quarter to force the extra period and then held a 7-2 advantage in the OT.

Newton will now play Lawrenceville in the 13th place game at 11:30 a.m., while Oregon will face Belvidere in the 15th place contest at 10 a.m. Both of those games will be played in the auxiliary gym at Effingham High School.

 

Tolono Unity 81; Chicago Brooks 71

Tolono Unity outscored Chicago Brooks 27-17 in the fourth quarter to break a tie and pull away for an 81-71 victory.

Coleton Lagendorf and Tre Hoggard scored 24 and 22 points respectively to lead the Rockets.

Tolono Unity will now face Champaign Centennial in the fifth place game at 3 p.m. Chicago Brooks will play Mattoon at 11:30 a.m.
