The Effingham Lady Hearts snapped their four-game skid in a big way Monday afternoon, posting a 13-1 win at Hillsboro.
The Lady Hearts scored in five of the six innings and had a pair of four-run frames in the second and sixth. EHS banged out 11 hits and took advantage of seven Hillsboro errors.
Effingham scored a single tally in the first inning, then started taking control with a four-run second. Tori Budde started the inning by getting hit by a pitch. With two outs, Daelyn Dunston and Grace Bushur had back-to-back RBI doubles and Abby Cunningham capped the inning with a run-scoring single.
Riley Cunningham went 3-for-3 in the game, while Abby Cunningham and Dunston both had two hits and drove in three runs.
Sawyer Althoff got the win. She went all six innings and allowed two hits and one run. She walked two and struck out 13.
The Lady Hearts are now 3-6. They will play Friday at Champaign Central
