The Effingham girls traveled to Newton Monday afternoon and dropped a 7-2 decision in tennis.
The Lady Hearts two wins came from Lydia Kull and Eden Wendling in singles.
“We had some changes in our lineup due to an injury with Riley Seachrist,” EHS coach Erik Williamson noted. “So several girls had to play up and did a good job. The highlight was Eden moving up to No. 4 singles and getting a solid win. Our team is continuing to work and getting better.”

No. 1 singles: Jacelyn Street (N) defeated Caroline Kull (E), 6-0, 6-0; No. 2 singles: Claire Griffith (N) defeated Riley Arend (E), 6-3, 7-5; No. 3 singles: Lydia Kull (E) defeated Madison Emmerich (N), 6-4, 6-4; No. 4 singles: Eden Wendling (E) defeated Lindsey McClain (N), 6-3, 6-2; No. 5 singles: Allison Harris (N) defeated Chloe Aden (E), 6-0, 6-0; No. 6 singles: Jessilyn Hall (N) defeated Jackeline Garcia (E), 6-0, 6-0; No. 1 doubles: Griffith/Harris (N) defeated C. Kull/Arend (E), 6-2, 6-2; No. 2 doubles: Street/Hall (N) defeated L. Kull/Wendling (E), 6-2, 6-0; No. 3 doubles: Emmerich/McClain (N) defeated Gracie Kroenlein/Aila Woomer (E), 5-7, 6-1, 10-4.
The Lady Hearts will play Tuesday at Salem.
