Effingham traveled to Taylorville Tuesday night and dropped its first volleyball match of the season.
Taylorville won in two games. The scores were 25-16, 26-24.
“They had some nice quick hits through the middle that we struggled to stop,” said EHS coach Laurie Bohnhoff. “Our hitting percentage was pretty low. We showed some fight in the second game, even though we were not really playing well offensively. We need to get back on track for this weekend.”
For Effingham, Taylor O’Dell had 4 assists, 2 digs; Hayley Diveley 10 assists, 4 digs, 1 block; Alexis Chrappa 7 kills, 8 digs; Kennedy Sowell 1 kill, 1 block; Sam Urch 2 kills, 1 assist, 1 ace, 1 dig, 1 block; Jacy Boatman 6 kills, 1 ace, 6 digs; Callie Feldhake 4 digs, 1 block; Morgan Hagler 1 assist, 3 digs; and Olivia Martin 8 digs.
Taylorville also won the junior varsity and freshman matches. The scores in the JV match were 25-15, 25-16; and 21-14, 21-17 in the freshman contest.
The Lady Hearts, now 3-1 on the season, will play in the Crossroads Classic Friday and Saturday.
