Shouse graduated from EHS in 1986 and then played baseball at Bradley University. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1990 and made his debut in 1993. He was known for a submarine-style delivery that led to sustained success.
During his career, Shouse was primarily a relief pitcher for the Pirates, Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays before retiring in 2009. He made more than 460 appearances. He has been coaching at various levels of minor league baseball since his retirement.
Their autographed, big-league jerseys will now hang in the lobby area on the EHS Alumni Wall of Honor, along with other distinguished athletes.
