Eli Levitt came within one out of a complete game and Brody Niebrugge belted a pair of solo home runs, helping the St. Anthony Bulldogs post a 5-1 victory Wednesday at Neoga.
Levitt took a one-hit shutout into the bottom of the seventh inning. He allowed two hits and Neoga’s single tally before reaching the 105-pitch total. Niebrugge came on to record the final out. Levitt walked three and struck out 14.
The game was scoreless until the fifth. Niebrugge broke that up by smashing the first pitch he saw over the leftfield fence to put SAHS on top.
St. Anthony added three tallies in the sixth. With one out, Will Hoene went deep, depositing a pitch over the centerfield fence. With two outs, Connor Roepke walked and Niebrugge connected again on the first pitch and again over the leftfield wall to make it 4-0.
SAHS added a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Colton Fearday.
The Bulldogs improved to 16-5 on the season. They will return home Saturday for a game against Newton
