Carson Burkett turned in a complete-game four-hitter and Collyn Ballard homered, helping the North Clay Cardinals post a 4-2 victory Monday afternoon at St. Anthony.

Ballard smacked a homer leading off the game and then added an RBI double in the second. Brady Ingram also drove in a run with a base hit to make it 2-0 in the first inning and the final run scored on a passed ball in the second.

Burkett took a two-hit shutout into the seventh. Beau Adams led off with a double and scored when Will Hoene’s ground ball was misplayed for an error. Angelo Mendella also singled in the inning and St. Anthony’s final run scored on a ground out by Connor Roepke.

Burkett didn’t walk a batter and struck out one, while throwing just 75 pitches.

Brock Fearday pitched the first four innings for the Bulldogs and took the loss. He allowed seven hits and four runs, while walking three. Colton Fearday pitched the final three innings.

The Bulldogs dipped to 15-5 on the season. They will play Wednesday at Neoga.
