It took a while to get going, but the St. Anthony Bulldogs kicked it into high gear during the second half.
Luke Swingler scored three of the four second-half goals to help the Bulldogs rally from a halftime deficit and post a 4-2 win at home Thursday over Harrisburg.
“At halftime, we made some formation changes and they paid off,” said St. Anthony soccer coach Martin Reyes.
Three minutes into the second half Luke Swingler scored his first goal off an assist from Reilly Ashton, who then put St. Anthony ahead for good with a goal of his own. At the 19-minute mark, Grace Hakman made a nice pass right in front of the net and Swingler kicked it home to make it 3-1.
With just three minutes remaining, Swingler then recorded the “hat trick” after taking a long pass from Jack Elder.
“We started a little slow, but we’re missing some key players – like Wade Lawrence and Will Swingler – because of injury,” Reyes noted. “But Reilly and Jack took control of mid-field and Trey Brummer and Grace Hakman worked the wings. Grace has really grown into the position. She is great at defense and is developing into an offensive weapon.”
St. Anthony will play at St. Teresa Saturday.
