Hillsboro scored on a deflected kick in the second half Saturday and managed to post a 2-2 tie with St. Anthony.
Twenty minutes into the first half, Hillsboro took a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Will Swingler made a nice pass to Reilly Ashton, who scored on a header to tie the match.
With two minutes remaining in the opening half, that same combination struck again. Swingler made a nice corner kick and Ashton found the back of the net, giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 edge at intermission.
Ashton finished with two goals, six steals and six shots, while Will Swingler had two assists, five corner kicks and two shots on goal. Jack Elder and Will Fonner both had six steals and goalies Ivan Dong recorded 10 saves and Ivan Daiber two.
“We are playing well and the team is developing chemistry,” said St. Anthony coach Martin Reyes. “I’m looking forward to see how we do when our players get healthy.”
The Bulldogs will play at home Tuesday against Carlyle.
