There’s nothing like a 14-run inning to break a game open.

That’s exactly what the St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs did Monday afternoon in the second inning.

They sent 17 batters to the plate and 14 of them scored, helping SAHS roll to a 19-2 win at home Monday afternoon over Shelbyville.

St. Anthony jumped out to a quick lead with a five-run first. Addie Wernsing got things started with a solo home run. After Hailey Niebrugge was hit by a pitch, Lucy Fearday drove her home with an RBI double. The other three runs scored on a wild pitch and pair of passed balls.

In the big second inning, The Lady Bulldogs used seven hits and six walks to push 14 runs across the plate.

Sydney Kibler had two hits and drove in five runs at the plate – both a two-run triple and a bases-loaded double in the seventh -- and also got the win on the mound. She pitched the first two innings, allowing two hits and two runs. She didn’t walk a batter and struck out three.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-2 on the season. They will play today (Tuesday) at Newton
