Kayla Kocher turned in a strong pitching performance and Newton benefited from four St. Anthony errors to come away with a 4-2 victory at home Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Eagles scored single tallies in the first, second, third and sixth innings, and an error in every one of those innings by the Lady Bulldogs directly led to each run, resulting in all four runs being unearned.

Kocher made those runs stand up by throwing a complete-game three-hitter and retiring the final 14 batters in a row. She walked one and struck out nine.

St. Anthony scored its two runs in the third. With one out, Cameron Rios singled and Addie Wernsing followed with a two-run blast that cleared the centerfield.

But that was the last Lady Bulldog to reach base. Their only other hit was a base hit by Maddie Kibler in the second.

Lucy Fearday took the loss, despite not giving up an earned run. She allowed five hits, while walking two and striking out seven.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 10-3 on the season. They will return to action Monday when they travel to Brownstown/St. Elmo.
