Chicago Brooks 51, Seneca 45
In a game that was close the entire way, Chicago Brooks came away with a 51-45 victory over Seneca Saturday morning.
Seneca held a slim 23-22 lead at intermission, but the Eagles outscored the Fighting Irish 29-22 in the second half.
Bryce Hayes scored 16 points for Brooks, while Lane Provance tallied 15 for Seneca.
Pleasant Plains 54, Charleston 42
Cooper Schallenberg and Liam Hatfield combined to score 43 points Saturday morning, leading the Pleasant Plains Cardinals to a 54-42 win over Charleston.
The Cardinals held a 30-23 lead at halftime and then outscored the Trojans 14-8 in the third period to take a 13-point lead into the final eight minutes.
Schallenberg scored 24 points and Hatfield added 19 for Pleasant Plains. Luke Bonstetter had 16 points for Charleston.
Lincoln Way East 50, Highland 41.
Lincoln Way East outscored Highland 30-15 in the middle two quarters Saturday afternoon, en route to a 50-41 victory and a berth in the semifinal round.
Highland jumped out to a 14-6 lead after the opening period, but the Griffins narrowed the gap to 21-18 at halftime and then outscored the Bulldogs 18-8 in the third quarter to take the lead for good.
BJ Powell scored 20 points and Karson Thomas added 17 for LWE, while Garrin Stone led Highland with 11 points.
Lutheran North 45, Oak Lawn 39
Lutheran North built a double-digit lead by halftime and then hung on to get the 45-39 victory over Oak Lawn and a berth in the semifinals.
The Crusaders jumped out to a 14-5 lead after the opening eight minutes and expanded their advantage to 25-13 at intermission. The Spartans had a 26-20 scoring edge in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.
Lutheran North got 18 points from AJ Newton, while Corey Lee led Oak Lawn with 12 points.
