“We played to our standards, which is something we want to do every game,” said St. Anthony coach Aaron Rios. “We only had six turnovers in the game and our defense played with discipline. We got in the passing lanes and then got out on a break whenever we could. I thought the girls did a nice job.”
The Lady Timberwolves didn’t score in the third period and the lead grew to 63-5. There was a continuously running clock in the fourth quarter.
Okaw Valley made just 4-of-20 shots in the game. Plus, the Lady Timberwolves turned the ball over a staggering 42 times.
Ruholl finished with a game-high 19 points and Ady Rios added 13. The Lady Bulldogs shot 34 percent overall, connecting on 29-of-85 attempts. They were 2-for-15 from three-point range and 8-for-11 at the foul line.
“The kids did a nice job of staying focused,” Rios noted. “In a game like this, it would have been easy to start jacking up some shots and easing off on defense. They didn’t do that, which I was glad to see.”
St. Anthony is now 6-1 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs, who just went 3-1 and captured second place in the Robinson Thanksgiving Tournament, will return to action Thursday night with a National Trail Conference game at Windsor/Stew-Stras.
