Tyler Robbins pitched the first five innings to get the win for the Indians. He allowed five hits and three runs, while walking two and striking out three. Caleb Siemer pitched three innings and took the loss for T-Town. He gave up five hits and seven runs, although only one of those was earned. He walked three and struck out five.
The nightcap was a see-saw affair in the early innings. The Indians broke on top with a five-run first, but the Shoes responded with a five-run second to stay close. Altamont then tallied four times in the third to build a lead and weren’t threatened the rest of the way.
Hammer had a two-run double to start the first-inning scoring for the Indians. Kaiden Miller also had an RBI single, plus one run scored on a ground out and another on an error.
The Indians led 7-1 in the second when the Shoes made their comeback. They scored five times on just one hit. Joey Ruholl reached on an error, Ben Goeckner singled and Mitch Jansen walked to load the bases. Tyler Schwerdt and Brayden Gaddis were both hit by pitches and Caleb Bloemer walked – each forcing in a run. The final two runs scored on an error to trim the gap to 7-6.
Altamont loaded the bases in the top of the third. One run scored on a wild pitch and Hammer then ripped a three-run homer to increase the lead to 11-6.
Hammer finished with three hits and five RBI. Robinson also had three hits and drove in two to lead the 13-hit attack.
Goeckner had two hits for Teutopolis and Ruholl drove in a pair of runs.
Dillan Elam was the starter and winner for T-Town. He went 4.1 innings, allowing three hits and six runs. He walked four and struck out seven. Goeckner took the loss. He pitched two innings, giving up seven hits and 10 runs, although just five were earned. Goeckner struck out two and walked two.
The Indians improved to 4-0 on the fall season. They will host Ramsey on Thursday.
The Shoes dropped to 1-5. They will return to action Friday at Odin.
