Ten seems to be a perfect number lately for the Teutopolis baseball team.

For the third game in a row, the Shoes posted a 10-0 victory – this time against Windsor/Stew-Stras at home Wednesday afternoon.

It stretched the T-Town winning streak to nine and the shutout streak has now reached 30 innings and five straight games. The Shoes have outscored their opponents 74-9 during the winning streak.

Evan Addis was the latest pitcher to throw up “goose eggs,” allowing WSS only four hits in his five-inning, 79-pitch performance. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out five.

Offensively, THS got all it needed with a six-run second inning. Mitch Hemmen led off with a double and Evan Wermert walked. Matt Deters then doubled in the first run. After Addis walked to load the bases, Justin Hardiek singled in two more. Later in the inning, Mitch Hardiek’s ground out brought home a run and Trenton Schwerdt capped the inning with a two-run double.

The Shoes ended the game with a four-run fifth. After a hit batter and walk, Addis delivered a two-run double and Justin Hardiek ended his 2-for-3, 4-RBI day with a two-run triple that accounted for the final two runs and brought the 10-run rule into effect.

T-Town improved to 14-2 and will play today (Thursday) at home against Altamont.

The two streaks are still alive in Teutopolis.

The Wooden Shoes stretched their winning streak to eight and extended their shutout streak to four with a 10-0, six-inning victory at home Monday over Odin/Patoka.

Hayden Ruholl and Brock Deters combined to throw a one-hitter, while Evan Wermert and Evan Addis both had two hits and combined to drive in five runs.

Ruholl went the first five innings to get the win. He walked two and struck five. Deters then pitched the sixth and recorded one strikeout.

Shoes pitchers have now strung together 25 consecutive scoreless innings. During that stretch, they have allowed just eight hits and six walks, while striking out 30.

The THS offense provided all the support needed with a two-run first. With one out, Mitch Hardiek doubled, Trenton Schwerdt walked and Matt Deters reached on an error to load the bases. Wermert then ripped a double to right field, driving in two.

The Shoes added two more tallies in the third. Wermert walked, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Addis. With two out, Luke Ungrund delivered another run-producing hit, increasing the margin to 4-0.

It stayed that way until the sixth when T-Town broke it open. Wermert and Addis had back-to-back RBI doubles, Kayden Althoff added a run-scoring single, Derek Konkel drew a bases-loaded walk and Max Niebrugge ended the game with a two-run single.

The Shoes, who have outscored their last eight opponents 64-9, improved to 14-2 on the fall season. They will host Windsor/Stew-Stras on Wednesday.

Luke Ungrund and Brock Deters combined to throw the second straight shutout for Teutopolis, helping the Wooden Shoes post a 2-0 decision Tuesday at home over Woodlawn.

After Trenton Schwerdt threw a two-hit shutout Monday, Ungrund and Deters combined to allow just four hits, while blanking Woodlawn.

Ungrund went the first five innings to get the win. He gave up three hits and two walks and struck out six. Deters pitched the final two innings to get the save. He allowed only one hit and fanned a pair.

T-Town scored both of its runs in the opening inning. With one out, Mitch Hardiek and Schwerdt had back-to-back singles. Mitch Hemmen drove in the first tally with a ground out and the second run scored on an error.

The Shoes had a chance to get more in the sixth. They had three hits and a walk, but one runner got picked off base.

Teutopolis extended its winning streak to six and improved to 12-2 with the win. The Shoes will play Saturday in the North Clay Showcase and will then face North Clay on Sunday at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Game time Sunday is 4 p.m.

Mitch Hardiek threw a one-hitter Saturday, helping the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes post their seventh straight victory and third consecutive shutout, a 10-0, six-inning decision over Cobden in the North Clay Showcase.

Hardiek allowed only a one-out single in the second inning and walks in the fourth and sixth. He struck out nine to improve to 3-0 on the fall season. The Shoes have not allowed a run in the last 19 innings.

Offensively, T-Town banged out 10 hits, with Luke Ungrund, Evan Wermert and Justin Hardiek each getting two. Ungrund, Wermert and Brady McMahon each had two RBI.

T-Town scored the only runs it needed in the first. Ungrund and Trenton Schwerdt both singled, and with two outs, Wermert drove them both home with a base hit. Wermert eventually scored on a wild pitch to stake the Shoes to an early 3-0 lead.

It became 8-0 after the second. Ungrund had an RBI double, Schwerdt drove in a run with a fly ball, another scored on an error and McMahon capped the five-run frame with a two-out, two-run single.

The Shoes scored their final two runs in the sixth on a run-scoring single by Justin Hardiek and a fly ball by Ungrund.

THS improved to 13-2 and have now outscored their opponents 54-9 during the seven-game win streak. The Shoes will play at home today (Monday) against Odin.

Trenton Schwerdt tossed a two-hitter Monday afternoon, leading the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes to a 5-0 victory at South Central.

Schwerdt allowed only a two-out single in the first and a lead-off base hit in the fifth. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out seven in a 76-pitch complete game. The only other baserunner for South Central was a hit batter.

T-Town had six hits and scored single tallies in the first, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh.

Schwerdt drove in the only run he needed with a single in the first inning, bringing in Luke Ungrund, who led off with a walk.

With two outs in the fourth, Matt Deters and Evan Addis walked, Justin Hardiek singled to load the bases and Deters scored on an error.

With one out in the fifth, Mitch Hardiek singled, stole second and scored on a base hit by Mitch Hemmen. The Shoes added a run in the sixth and wrapped up the scoring in the seventh with Hemmen driving in his second run with a ground ball.

The Shoes, now 11-1, will be at home Tuesday to face Woodlawn.
