After the two teams traded three-pointers in the opening 90 seconds, the Shoes went on a 13-0 run and never looked back.  Caleb Bloemer started the scoring spree with a basket, Caleb Siemer connected on a couple jumpers and Garrett Gaddis came off the bench and scored seven straight points, including a three-point play that capped the surge and gave the Shoes a 16-3 lead at the 2:21 mark.

“Garrett could easily be a starter,” Reeder said. “In fact, he would be on most teams. He provides us a unique element coming off the bench. A lot of teams don’t have that. He gives us a new wrinkle. We need guys to come in and maintain the scoring for us. Garrett is one of those guys.”

Paris trimmed the lead to five points early in the second quarter, but James Niebrugge drilled a three and added a free throw and Siemer turned a turnover into another basket to re-establish the double-digit lead, 24-13, midway through the period.

A minute later, a three-point play by Siemer ignited an 11-0 run. Brendan Niebrugge connected on back-to-back threes and Siemer hit another short jumper to make it a 19-point spread. At halftime, the Shoes held a comfortable 37-20 advantage.

Teutopolis continued to expand the margin in the second half. The Shoes led by as many as 28 points in the third period and was on top 56-34 heading into the final eight minutes. A three-pointer by James Niebrugge, a three-point play by Joey Niebrugge and a bucket by Bloemer to open the fourth quarter made it a 30-point margin and the continuously running clock kicked in.

Brendan Niebrugge led three Shoes in double figures with 16 points. Siemer finished with 15 and James Niebrugge added 13. Gaddis chipped in with nine.

“Having multiple players in double figures or close to it doesn’t let a defense focus on just one or two guys,” Reeder said. “Brendan and Caleb are going to get a lot of attention, so need to have one or two other guys step up every game. That forces a defense to make a decision on who they’re going to try to guard.”

The Shoes shot 56 percent overall, connecting on 29-of-52 attempts. They were 7-for-22 from behind the arc and 8-of-9 from the foul line. Siemer pulled down seven rebounds and James Niebrugge had five assists.

T-Town improved to 5-1 on the season. They will be on the road Friday and play at Bloomington Central Catholic.
