The Teutopolis senior reached the coveted milestone Saturday afternoon and helped the Lady Shoes post a 59-46 victory in an Apollo Conference game at Taylorville.
Niebrugge entered the game with 996 career points, but reached 1,000 before the first quarter ended. She finished the game with 22 points, leading T-Town to the win.
THS led throughout. The Lady Shoes raced to a 13-3 lead after the opening eight minutes, and was on top 33-23 at halftime and 46-36 entering the fourth period.
Niebrugge had 13 of her points in the first half. Kaitlyn Schumacher and Izzy Hardiek also cracked double figures, scoring 12 and 10 points respectively. Hardiek and Schumacher led the team with eight rebounds apiece.
The Lady Shoes improved to 9-3 overall and 7-3 in the Apollo Conference. They will play four games this week – Monday at home against Effingham; Thursday at Charleston; Friday at home against Warrensburg-Latham; and Saturday at St. Joe-Ogden.
