Evan Wermert had quite the offensive weekend.

After pumping in 30 points Friday night against Mattoon, the Teutopolis senior tallied 27 more Saturday, helping the Wooden Shoes post a 51-44 Apollo Conference victory at Taylorville.

Wermert scored nine points in the opening eight minutes, as the Shoes opened a 16-6 lead. He knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the second quarter, and Jordan Hardiek and Brendan Niebrugge also scored from long range, as THS took a 32-21 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

The Shoes were still up by double digits, 41-31, after three quarters and then received 10 more points from Wermert in the final period to secure the win.

He was the only T-Town player to reach double figures.

Teutopolis improved to 8-3 overall and 4-3 in the Apollo Conference. The Shoes will play four games this week, starting with a Tuesday match-up at home against Effingham, who will come in sitting atop the conference standings. THS will also play at home Thursday against St. Anthony; Friday at Charleston; and Saturday at St. Joe-Ogden.
