The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes continued their fine play Saturday, posting a 6-1 soccer victory at home over Carlyle.

Linus Tanneryd had a hat trick, scoring three goals in the second half to help the Shoes pull away and improve to 10-2 on the season.

Jack Poelker had the THS goal in the first half. Then Tanneryd scored three times, plus Derek Deters and Kaleb Bannick added goals in the second half.

The Shoes will return to action today (Monday) at home against Effingham.

There will be a goodwill donation bucket at the entrance and a tip jar at the concession stand to benefit two local families affected by childhood cancer. All of the money raised will go to Jenny and Nick Kinkelaar, and their daughter Vivie Kinkelaar; and Jody and Matt Lohman, and their son, Dawson Lohman; to help with costs from the disease.

Teutopolis fans are asked to wear gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness and the Effingham fans are asked to wear red for love and support.

The junior varsity game will begin at 4 p.m. today, followed by the varsity match at approximately 5:30 p.m.
