The Teutopolis Lady Shoes played two games Saturday and came away with a pair of victories.

In the opener, T-Town fell behind early, but then scored in four consecutive innings to post a 9-3 win over Gillespie.

In the second game, THS scored three runs in the opening inning and went on to beat Vandalia 7-4.

In the first game, the Lady Miners led 2-0, but the Lady Shoes tied the score in the bottom of the third. Olivia Copple led off with a base hit and scored on a triple by Erin Althoff. The second run scored on a sacrifice fly by Daisha Piedra.

Teutopolis took the lead with a three-run fourth. Danielle Sarchet singled and Estella Mette was hit by a pitch to get the inning started. Runs eventually scored on an error, a hit batter with the bases loaded and a wild pitch.

The Lady Shoes wrapped up their scoring with a single tally in the fifth and three more runs in the sixth.

Courtney Gibson got the win. She pitched all seven innings, allowing seven hits and three runs. She struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter.

Mette had an RBI single, Sarchet drove in a run with a fly ball and a third run scored on a ground ball, as the Lady Shoes broke out to a 3-0 lead in the opening inning against Vandalia. Summer Wall belted a home run in the second. Mette and Kaylee Niebrugge both finished with two RBI in the game.

Jordan Goeckner was the winning pitcher. She pitched 5.1 innings, allowing six hits and four runs. She walked three and struck out five.

The Lady Shoes are now 5-1. They will play today (Monday) at Casey-Westfield.
