Courtney Gibson out-dueled Kayla Kocher and the Teutopolis Lady Shoes gained a measure a revenge Friday afternoon.
After dropping an 11-1 decision to Kocher and Newton earlier in the season, the Lady Shoes scored single tallies in three innings and got an outstanding pitching performance from Gibson, en route to a 3-1 win at home in their regular season finale.
Gibson allowed just two hits and one run, while walking three and striking out six. Kocher was touched for eight hits, while walking one and striking out eight.
T-Town got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first. With one out, Emily Konkel got her first of three hits in the game, lining a double. She then stole third base and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kaylee Niebrugge.
In the second, Danielle Sarchet singled, went to second on a bunt and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
In the third, Konkel singled, Piedra walked, and then with two outs, Sarchet delivered an RBI single.
The Lady Eagles scored their only run in the top of the third.
The Lady Shoes ended their regular season at 19-7. They will return to action Monday. In an opening-round game of the Tolono Unity Regional, T-Town (No. 4 seed) will play at home against Shelbyville (No. 10). Game time is 4:30 p.m.
