Kaylee Niebrugge and Erin Althoff both drove in two runs, helping the Teutopolis Lady Shoes post a 6-4 win at home Tuesday over Effingham.

T-Town trailed 2-1 early, but scored a pair of runs in the second and then added three more in the third to build a lead.

In the second inning, Danielle Sarchet reached on an error and ended up at second base. Summer Wall drove her home with a base hit, and after a single by Olivia Copple, Althoff, who had three hits in the game, added an RB single to put THS on top, 3-2.

In the fourth, Wall started the three-run inning by getting hit by a pitch. Copple walked and Althoff drove in the first run with a base hit. Niebrugge brought another run home with a ground out and Daisha Piedra capped the inning with an RBI double.

The Lady Hearts made it closer with a two-run fifth. Daelyn Dunston walked, followed by singles by Abby Cunningham and Sidney Donaldson to load the bases. Jennifer Jamison then drove in two with a base hit.

Effingham scored its first run in the first on a wild pitch and took a 2-1 lead in the second on a run-scoring single by Sawyer Althoff.

T-Town also scored in the bottom of the first. Althoff led off with a base hit and scored on a triple by Niebrugge.

Courtney Gibson got the win. She went all seven innings, allowing eight hits and four runs, while walking five and striking out five. Saige Althoff took the loss for EHS. She gave up eight hits and six runs, while walking five and striking out three.

The Lady Shoes are now 17-7. They will return to action Thursday with a game at Robinson.

The Lady Hearts dipped to 13-11 on the season. They will now face St. Anthony the next three days in the annual City Series. The games today (Wednesday) and Friday will be played at St. Anthony’s field, while Thursday’s game will be played on Effingham’s diamond. Game time each day is 4 p.m.
